Shore Junction to Open featuring Samsung Digital Signage

By Arlette Farland

Shore Junction has officially opened on the North Shore and is New Zealand's first free-to-access youth innovation hub for youth across Auckland between 13 and 25.

Facilities include a fully fitted out recording studio and adjourning music room for young musicians to experiment and inspire them with different instruments, a creative dance studio and an art space.

It focusses on on accelerating STEM knowledge and skills, creating a space for young people to build, code, plan, and develop these skills.  Connecting with these areas are collaborative, break-out spaces with bean bags, digital whiteboards and large screens, which will accommodate youth-led events.

Benefitz collaborated on this space with Computaleta to help bring Shore Junction to life through technology.  This includes a four-screen video wall, Samsung Flip2 digital whiteboards, and another exterior facing video wall for Shore Junction to advertise and promote their events and activities through digital signage.

Annaliese Hewitt, Centre Director for Shore Junction, says the technology has reimagined the space to be one of true collaboration.

"It has been amazing having the Samsung Flip at Shore Junction for our young people to use. They love the functionality of working on group assignments and also brainstorming ideas for our Youth Engagement Group projects. It has been especially valuable for us to use in our auditorium space when we rent it out to other community organisations to use,” Ms Hewitt says.

"Dave and the team at Computaleta have been so patient in teaching us how to use the new technology.  Being able to create personalised content on the display screens has meant that we can promote our programmes for the young people at Shore Junction, as well as sharing our partners' events."

Dave Watts, Business Manager at Computaleta for Digital Signage says working with Benefitz right from the start meant they could find the right products to fit their needs, from hardware through to the content management software.

“We were able to remove all the perceived pain points of a digital signage opportunity like this.  The result was a stress-free and straight forward installation for Benefitz and a very happy outcome for their customer.”

Shore Junction is located in the former North Shore RSA building on Mary Poynton Cresent in Takapuna.
